Hon. Richard L. Atendido

Brief Profile:

Richard Lozano-Atendido, Ric-Ric as he is fondly called by family and friends, is the third child among the eight (8) children of former City Councilor Minda Olarte Lozano and Mr. Bobbie Carmelito Vijunco Atendido.  He is married to Ms. Narly Alolosan and blessed with two daughters (Kim and Alexa) and twin boys (Tofie and Tonie).  He is one of the grandsons of Mariana Olarte and Bernardino Lozano, who were one of the pioneers of General Santos City.  His siblings are Bobbie Eduardo (an ophthalmologist), Bobbie Neil (a businessman), Arvin (an overseas worker), James Eric (an overseas nurse), Ariel (a ramp and commercial model), Cheryl Anne (a nurse) and Benedict (also a nurse).

Ric had his elementary education at Notre Dame of Dadiangas College, batch 1983, and secondary education at Mindanao State University, batch 1987. Driven by his desire to assist his parents in their farming business, he took up Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Southern Mindanao, batch 1995.  Currently, he is taking up masters degree in Public Administration through the program initiated by the National PCL-Legislative Academy.

Born on February 21, 1971 at General Santos City, this true-blooded general was inspired to enter public service to continue his fore parents’ commitment to serve the generals, especially their brothers-Native B’laans (his matriarch is half Spanish and half B’laan).  In July 1997, he was elected first Councilor of Barangay Sinawal and consequently elected as Punong Barangay, allowing him to serve his ka-barangays for ten (10) years.  He was elected City Councilor in May 2007 and 2010 elections.
