Gensan, Sarangani LGUs give Pacman Heroes’ Welcome


July 4, 2017 - Local officials from General Santos City and Sarangani Province greeted the People’s Champ upon his arrival at General Santos City yesterday afternoon.

          Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, who came home after a highly-contentious WBO Welterweight title fight defeat against Australian boxer Jeff Horn last July 2, 2017, at Brisbane, Australia, was warmly received by local officials from General Santos City and Sarangani Province. The Filipino champ was also given full military honors by the Philippine National Police.

          At the tarmac, General Santos City was represented by Vice Mayor Shirlyn L. Bañas-Nograles, along with City Councilors Rosalita T. Nuñez, Elizabeth B. Bagonoc, Vandyke B. Congson, Lourdes F. Casabuena, and Atty. Jose Edmar J. Yumang.

          On the other hand, Sarangani Province was represented by Vice Governor Dr. Elmer T. De Peralta, Mayor Atty. Maria Theresa D. Constantino of the Municipality of Malungon, Mayor Victor James B. Yap, Sr. of the Municipality of Glan, and Mayor Aniceto P. Lopez of the Municipality of Maasim, Mayor Raul Martinez of the Municipality of Kiamba, and OIC Mayor Tito Balazon of the Municipality of Maitum.

          Sarangani Province LGU officials also at the scene were Board Members Jeorge Falgui, Arman Guili, Cesar Nallos, Virgilio Clark Tobias, Rosemarie Sayo, Hermie Galzote, Cornelio Martinez, Abdulrakhman Pangolima, Fred Basino, and Edward Paras.

          Upon request by the boxer-senator, a planned parade and a press conference were canceled for him to immediately go home and rest after the long flight from Australia.

The Philippine National Police gave the People's Champ a much-deserved Heroes' Welcome with full military honors.
