VM Bañas, in her message, stress the importance or the essential part heritage and culture play in the development of the city. She likewise expressed gratitude for the full and unwavering support that Mayor Ronnel Rivera gave for the long awaited project.

The groundbreaking ceremony was very well attended in spite of the moderate afternoon rains, with distinguished guests that include the honorable members of the City Council, Dept. of Tourism Region 12 Director, Nelly Nita Dillera, Architect Michael Ang, the museum Architect of Record, GenSan Tourism Council Chair and City First Lady Jane Rivera, Asso. The Old City Hall Building was designated as the site of GSC Museum by virtue of an ordinance passed last 2011. Then City Councilor Rivera was among its sponsors and VM Bañas its ardent advocate.

VM Bañas, by virtue of an executive order by the City Mayor, was designated to chair the GSC Museum Technical Working Group—the body tasked to carry out, oversee and coordinate all efforts to establish the city museum.

The first phase of the project, which is the repair and retrofitting of the old City Hall Building will be carried out as early as next month. – JBS
