MSU Gensan PolSci students conclude OJT work

July 11, 2017 – Undergraduates from Mindanao State University completed their On-The-Job work in the city legislative today, July 11, 2017.

          Nineteen 3rd-year AB Political Science students from Mindanao State University-General Santos City (MSU-Gensan) finished 120 hours of OJT work required of them as per the AB Political Science curriculum of the university. The students were assigned to different offices in the Sangguniang Panlungsod: the Councilors’ offices, the Legislative Division, the Records Division, Journals and Minutes Division, Administrative Division, the City Library, and the Vice Mayor’s Office.

          Today, during their final meeting with Vice Mayor Shirlyn Bañas-Nograles as OJTs, the students discussed with her their learning during the whole duration of their work. In general, they shared their office experiences on document-handling, letter- and speech-writing, encoding, applying for committee hearings, and drafting ordinances and resolutions.

          Afterwards, the Vice Mayor congratulated the troop for the completion of their OJT work. Before they parted ways, she discussed with the students the realities in public service and governance, local policies in General Santos City and the importance of documentation and integrity of reports for the city’s next generation of residents and public officials.

          Lastly, she emphasized the importance of having a “positive attitude” which is an important trait to become “agents of change.”

          The students include: Eula Marsha Anab, Kaysha V. Canoy, Rialane Myra M. Arriza, Maribel A. Abidel, Gladstein Jill L. Asilum, Resel B. Gerondio, Fah Kria S. Abdul, Kim Claudine E. Lipay, Honey Jane C. Conde, Crystil Y. Deaño, Jeamie C. Abadies, Rickey P. Elado, Jaydee L. Silongan, John Ludwig Pormento, Jan Karl Dato, Angel Ann Baga, and Mojafar Salah, Dave Cabuñas, and Lyndell Y. Malunda.
